I am bullying, I love my existence.
Caution: If you’re a bully, you don’t deserve reading this!
When you THINK you know more than the world. When you CONSIDER everyone’s foolish. When you FEEL you need ears in the room. When you DETERMINE an audience for your pseudo self. When you REALIZE you’ve goofed up. When you ANTICIPATE you need to cover. When you GUAGE a person with better IQ but also as a threat. When you CONCEIVE a joke that might hurt a grandeur. When you UNDERSTAND you can never get through his/her mind. When you SEE yourself as a pseudo dominant personality. When you ENVISION in your head that there wouldn’t be a backlash. When you FANCY a hunky-funny-bossy reputation…
Basically, when you PRESUME the world needs you more than ever either to upgrade people to function better but not more than you OR to downgrade people to function better but a little less good than you.
So what makes me — bullying — the worst practice ever imbibed in your civilization?
It’s all about that psychological edge that you wish to adhere on your fellow earthly existents but fail to realize that this ‘need to adhere’ makes you the worst human on planet earth and ‘the psychological edge’ that you proclaim is the lowest level of any charactorial benchmark you’d ever set for yourself.
Bullying is a one-way game yo! The ones who framed the rules I believe were really really high on some shit (imagine the actual physical resemblance of ‘shit’). They ate, smoked, drank all of it to create this phenomenon that’s destroyed lives, families and just for the sake of it — human thinking.
I don’t even wish to mention the origin of bullying. Because history mentions a fact, this fact somehow indirectly finds that inventive mindset sort of respect for its creators or observers and in this case, these buggers should always be virgin to any mentions — ever.
And coming to the point, mind you there isn’t any well-defined yardstick that defines the scale to being bullied. The moment you dominate an individual with your mental/physical action, you’ve practiced me, I exist, Period.
Btw, were you ever bullied? Take a moment and think about every tom-dick-harry that you ever witnessed as a bully or being bullied?
I wouldn’t even want to discuss extreme bullying because that’s something which needs constitutional attention. But, just think about the most subtle words of domination thrown at somebody. As simple as a ‘Kitne chutiya ho tum!’ to ‘You’re such an idiot!’, even such immediate replies that you use tonnes of times a day is an action that can turmoil somebody’s thinking to a whole different level. Adjectives and phrases like self-doubt, feeling low or depressed, questioning your ethics, embarrassment, shame et cetera are all under-stated words. You’ve just got somebody’s happy neuron to collapse. Even if that human considers you the best of your friend, mentor, acquaintance — it somehow resides in their subconscious sense.
For that one moment, as a bully, you ’ve somehow managed to overpower the bullied but in the long run, you’ve cost yourself being tagged as the biggest sinner (if you’re spiritual) or you’ve literally assassinated a belief in the most indirect way (if you’re an atheist).
You know, I genuinely feel writing any of this is of no use. Even government and institutional laws are yet to be 100% successful in their existence, why the fuck would these 800 words matter?
It won’t right? If you think so, you’re a bully yourself :p
Unless you address the elephant in the room, how do you expect to fight? We collectively need to raise a voice, be a little belligerent to the world around us. No, you can’t stop a bully from their actions and if you stop them, it would be you bullying the bully — the circle of life, the law of energy conservation? remember?
So what to do?
Wait! Let me use that clíched phrase — ‘Be the change you wish to see in the world!’. Now, practically this just sounds like a decent line to start a speech or a presentation and in reality, if people really followed it, we’d be still virgin to this article. But, on the flip side, take a deep breath, close your eyes, rub it, open them, take a moment and read that phrase again yo!
BE — THE — CHANGE — YOU — WISH — TO — SEE — IN — THE — WORLD.
Do you realize beyond a phrase, it empowers you to literally change the way we all live? Killing the act of bullies would be such a small task to process. The idea of these 800 words is to start acting the way you ever imagined the ideal world to be. So this new year, when you wake up tomorrow, just head out and do everything that you feel would make the world around you a happy place. Like just saying ‘thank you!’ to the janitor that’s stationed to clean your shit! Like just appreciating the tea-seller’s daily dose that changed the meaning of the word — cutting — for you! Like smiling at the traffic cop you see every day! Like just reaching out to your subordinates, your mentors and gratifying their existence! Like being generous to the IVR calls you receiver every day (this one’s difficult :p) Like being graceful to the cabbies who’d want you to hear them out! Like waving at your watchman whose uptight safeguarding your family, your home! Like smiling before you doze off for the day, for the effort you took today for a happy world!
And here, I ain’t even talking about heavy words like invention, revolution, transformation blah blah that you can work off as a part of your ‘Be the change…’ exercise. I’d just expect you to manage the above mentioned smaller bits. Just try once tomorrow and you’d know what I am talking about!
Because, if ever you wish to eradicate me — the bullying habit — you first have to learn to make the world a happy place, mile by mile.
After all, I am bullying and I do not wish to love my existence.
